Important Information for Home Owners

This article showed up in my RSS feed today. I trust Clark Howard, he’s a well known consumer advocate who lives in Georgia and I’ve read him and listened to his podcasts for several years.

How to Avoid Home Title Theft

The article mentions, “In Georgia, the Superior Court Clerks’ Cooperative Authority offers the Filing Activity Notification System (FANS). This voluntary system sends homeowners notifications “when certain real estate and personal property records are filed with, indexed, and data is transmitted by Clerks of Superior Court throughout the state of Georgia,” the website says.”

The link to the Georgia Superior Court Clerks’ Cooperative Authority website where you can set this up to receive any notifications is:

Alcohol & Breast Cancer

I’ve never been a big or regular drinker, but the New York Times article linked below gives me pause.

I enjoy a little wine from time to time, but now after dealing with estrogen positive breast cancer for the last 18 months I’ve decided to stop drinking wine altogether.

How Much Alcohol Does It Take to Raise Your Cancer Risk? SOURCE: The New York Times, Jan 3, 2025

According to WHO, “alcohol is one of the biggest risk factors for breast cancer:

“There is no safe level of alcohol consumption. The risk of breast cancer increases with each unit of alcohol consumed per day. More than 10% of alcohol-attributable cancer cases in the Region arise from drinking just 1 bottle of beer (500 ml) or 2 small glasses of wine (100 ml each) every day. For breast cancer, this is even higher: 1 in 4 alcohol-attributable breast cancer cases . . . is caused by this amount.”

The Invisible Man

We see right through the unshowered soul living in a car by the beach, or by the Walmart, or by the side of the road. But he’s there, and he used to be somebody. He still is. A firsthand account of homelessness in America.

A gofundme page has been set up for Mr. Fealey

I wonder how many Mr. Fealeys park their cars at the local Walmart parking lot near me.
